Five newly selected reports examine reusable AI instructions, small-business support, connected marketing workflows and provenance. Three September 30 announcements, a September 30 research report and a September 29 product expansion retain their original dates. Vendor claims and planned access are not treated as independently proven outcomes.

Gemini Skills turns repeat prompting into reusable instructions

Google is rolling Skills into Gemini chat, with Workspace access following in the coming weeks. Users can invoke saved instructions with a slash command, combine skills and attach reference files. Skills will replace Gems, with automatic migration: personal-account support ends starting in November, followed by business, enterprise and nonprofit accounts in March 2027 and education in June 2027. Google also says its Opal experiment will turn down in November. Availability remains subject to rollout conditions.

Choose one recurring task and capture its inputs, style rules, evidence requirements and acceptance criteria. Test the saved instructions on several real examples before relying on automatic triggering. Teams using Gems should inventory them before migration.

Gemini 4 Argon is announced, not broadly available yet

Google announced Gemini 4 Argon with initial access for trusted cyber defenders and internal teams. Broader developer, enterprise and consumer access will follow phased safety work, starting with paid API customers and AI Ultra subscribers. Google reports stronger coding and enterprise evaluations and a one-million-token output limit. Announced introductory API prices are $2 per million input tokens and $10 per million output tokens. These are vendor-reported capabilities and future broad-access pricing, not a generally available product today.

Keep model-selection decisions tied to accessible tools and repeatable task evaluations. Treat Argon's announcement as a watchlist item; do not redesign production workflows around access that has not arrived.

OpenAI and America's SBDC plan practical small-business AI training

OpenAI announced a partnership with America's SBDC to train around 150 advisors and aim to reach at least 1,000 small businesses through in-person workshops, plus advising and resources. Its accompanying report describes how small teams use AI for specialist tasks such as marketing and operations. The training numbers are pilot goals, while usage findings and customer examples come from OpenAI's own report; they do not establish typical business returns.

Training should leave a team with one bounded workflow, a review process and a way to measure whether it helps. Track completed work and time spent checking it, rather than treating AI adoption itself as the outcome.

Latest editionBusiness connector expansion; vendor claims

Muse adds business connectors while keeping consequential actions approval-gated

Meta's September 29 Muse for Small Business expansion connects marketing, commerce and work tools, including professional Instagram analytics, Facebook Pages, ad accounts, Shopify, Canva and QuickBooks. The company describes campaign analysis, draft preparation and financial-review tasks, and says nothing publishes, sends or spends without approval. Muse was already introduced earlier in September for the US and Canada; this is a business-skills and connector expansion, not a new global launch or independently validated performance result.

SynthID Bio brings provenance signals into AI-designed proteins

Google DeepMind introduced SynthID Bio, a proof of concept that embeds detectable watermarks in AI-generated protein sequences and predicted structures. The team reports laboratory results across three target proteins with comparable binding performance to unwatermarked designs. It is publishing methods and research resources, while noting that deliberate tampering remains a challenge. This is provenance research, not a universal biosecurity safeguard or a demonstrated medical treatment.

The broader lesson is to design provenance into generated outputs rather than add it after distribution. Watermarks can complement metadata and review, but their limits and removal risks still need testing.
